Virtual Improv Comedy Class
Have fun, tap into your creativity, and learn the skills of improv comedy from the comfort of your own home!
Admit it – you have at some point thought to yourself one of the following things:
- “I would love to take an improv comedy class – it looks like so much fun!”
- “I bet improv comedy would be a useful thing to learn.”
- “I love watching improv comedy – I wonder how they do that…”
If you have thought any of those things (or something similar) you are in luck!
“I had been wanting to take an improv class for some time, and when I learned that Avish Parashar was offering one, I jumped at the chance. I’d had the pleasure of seeing Avish speak in the past, and knew firsthand how funny and spontaneous he is. The class exceeded my expectations. Avish isn’t just an accomplished improv performer, he really understands the craft. And even more important, he knows exactly how to help others who are less experienced understand and apply the key principles and techniques – and have a lot of fun in the process. Avish helped me learn to be faster on my feet (when that inevitable, unexpected “something” happens in front of an audience), and to quickly discover more and better humor in virtually any situation. I highly recommend Avish and his program!”

What You Will Learn
There are many skills that lead to great improv comedy. This class will focus on the fundamentals so you will learn the foundational skills to be able to perform improv comedy. Here are some of the things we will cover:
- How to tap into your inherent creativity.
- How to think quickly on your feet
- What “The improviser’s mindset” is and how you can use it to be funnier and more creative right away.
- How to use “yes, and” to open up your creativity and play effectively with others.
- Fundamentals of great storytelling (i.e. how to create a story on the spot that the audience wants to listen to)
- Fundamentals of scene work (i.e. how to act with others without a script)
- How to be a funnier improviser without sacrificing the quality of the improv.
These are just some of the topics. Additional things will be covered based on the group’s needs and interest – it’s improv, so we will have some room to flow…
Even if you have performed or practiced improv before, this class will be a great chance to learn some new approaches and get some more experience in the basics.
“Avish created a safe space for us to “play” and, yes, make mistakes. Whew! I was hoping to gain more insights and experience around showing up, in the moment, authentically (i.e. not over-thinking everything). I gained that and much more. Avish helped us to experience how we can naturally uncover human vs. trying to be funny. I’m confident that this experience will really pay off in my business and personal life. I’m definitely signing up for more!”
– Kathleen O’Sullivan, CEO, KSHIFT
Each class will be relaxed and fun, while being serious enough to teach the lessons and answer any questions you may have. The sessions will be a mix of:
- Instruction
- Demonstration
- Practice where participants play the improv games in front of the whole group
- Small group sessions where I will use the “breakout room” feature to put everyone into a small group or pair to work on a game or drill, and then we will regroup and debrief.
The class will be super-supportive and positive. While I won’t force anyone to do anything they really don’t want to, I do encourage everyone to participate fully to get the maximum value from the sessions.
“Avish seems born to do and teach improv! He’s hilarious when he’s demonstrating improv and he teaches with a clarity that makes comprehension easy. He creates a “safe space” in which students feel comfortable trying new things, making mistakes, pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones. I’m signing up for a second class because I enjoyed the first so much.”

“I have followed Avish’s writings and speeches on improv and creativity for many years. When he offered an inprov class he created on Zoom platform I jumped at the opportunity to attend it which just completed last month. I know the group enjoyed his class and I certainly did. It has been a learning and fun experience for me and I will definitely attend Avish’s classes again. I highly recommend his classes for anyone, beginners or experienced, interested in using improvisation to enhanced their performing and communication skills among other reasons.”

About The Instructor
Hi there! My name is Avish Parashar, and I am a professional speaker and improv comedian who has studied, taught, and performed improv comedy for over 28 years. For the past 17 years I have used improv comedy as a tool to help organizations respond to change, communicate effectively, and be more innovative. In 2018 I achieved the Certified Speaking Professional designation, which fewer than 5,000 people in the world have attained. I’ve also written two books on the ideas of improv comedy. All this bragging is to say that I knows improv comedy, I have been teaching it in a variety of ways for years (decades!) and I am one of a small number of people who makes his living off of improv comedy. I would love the chance to share some of that experience and information you!
